A most Unusual Antique English 12bore Manstopper Belt Pistol
Originally a flintlock circa 1780 converted to percussion circa 1825 as was the fashion with favourite quality guns. The massive 12 bore octagonal iron barrel stamped with private cross sceptre Proof on underside, converted with drum and nipple system. The lockplate indistinctly signed (NEWSON?), chunky one-piece walnut stock with steel loop trigger guard, steel belt-hook on left and chequered grip with Nickel escutcheon engraved with a starfish HL, complete with ramrod. Lightly pitted and cleaned. Good Condition. OA 16.5cm, Brl 12.5cm
