Scarce American M1 Garand Self-Loading Military Rifles
This was the replacement for the fine 1903 Springfield bolt action rifle which was outdated. John Garand patented his design in 1932, it was approved by the US Army in 1936 and it went into full production in 1940. It became the backbone of the American Forces because of its rapid fire rate and its ease of loading; its successful introduction revolutionised military thinking around the world. The rifle continued in service after WW2 through to Korean War and even in Vietnam.
These are Springfield produced examples with 8-shot .30-06 integral magazine, adjustable micrometre rearsight, trigger guard safety, bayonet lug and steel sling swivels. Fully Springfield marked. Military used examples but in Excellent Condition.
