A Fine Antique .656 Smoothbore Enfield Pattern 1859 Infantry Musket
After the Indian Mutiny of 1857, it was decided to re-arm the Indian Sepoy Troops with smoothbore muskets whilst the British Troops would retain the 1853 rifled musket. This is an English produced P59 dated 1864 and Crown VR marked, typical 3-band configuration with open sights and Ordnance markings. Walnut stock with brass guard and buttplate, complete with ramrod, Enfield markings and stock stamp. Excellent Condition with much blued finish remaining, stocks with some abrasions. Now Scarce to Find and highly recommended. OA 139cm, Brl 98cm.
